Dear
friends, family, and colleagues:
Greetings from Watsonville, California.
News from our corner of the world:
Happy
Autumn!
| On the home front: |
| Our teen grandkids, Jacob and Johannah, from Ohio, visited us in Sept. before returning to school. We had a terrific time with them visiting San Francisco and the Monterey Aquarium. |

Johannah, Jake, my daughter Erin, and granddaughters Mairin and Shevawn.

Charles in the engineer's seat at Roaring Camps Railroad—celebrating his 80th birthday this month.
Charles turned 80 on October 11. |

Birthday boy!

Celebrating two birthdays: Charles and adopted grandson Kidasi with his brother Elias and dad, Gadi.
| We spent a weekend in Southern California recently to see our daughter-in-law Michiko in a Polynesian dance presentation. It was magnificent. |

My son Jim and his wife Michiko after the performance.
On the career front:

Selling books after my program, "The Secret of a Grateful Heart." I spoke to a full house of wonderful people.
I spoke at the Mount Hermon Adult Conference in Mount Hermon, California during mid-October. |
| My book, Walkin' With God Ain't For Wimps just came out in Indonesian. My friend Anita lives in Indonesia so it was a joy for me to send her a few copies to share with friends and family. |

Sight-seeing with my friend and writing critique partner, Sherry Kyle, in Glen Ellen, near Sonoma.
We enjoyed a few days of 'retreat' in Sonoma, CA sponsored by my literary agent's company, Books and Such Literary Agency. What a lovely time of relaxation, inspiration, and laughter—good food too! |
| Charles in front of the Jack London Museum where we strolled the grounds and toured the facility. London built a magnificent home that unfortunately burned down before he could move in. |

Some things to consider. . .
Reflection:
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall (Psalm 55:22).
Action:
Our church is participating in a program called 40 Days of Love. I'm thinking about how I can be more loving and taking steps to do so. Maybe you'd like to do the same. Jesus set the example. Let's follow Him.
Thought for the month:
"Our task is to believe, to trust, to create, to do whatever is at hand to do in the present moment. And to let the future be." (from Soulwork by Bettyclare Moffatt).
Let's stay in touch. I'd love to hear from you. . .
